LETTER FROM JOHN HARRICHARAN
-------------------------------------------------------
Dear Reader:
It has been quite a while since
I sent you an issue of
Insight2000 ezine and I determined that, come what may,
I will definitely write you today. So, here am I with a
brand new issue.
Many events have rocked our
world in the past months.
Some of us have been affected directly by the tragedies
of the tsunami in Asia while others have reeled under
the blows of Hurricane Katrina as it devastated cities
and towns in the Gulf Coast states.
We have all been touched by
these events and some have
suffered personal loss. The blame game has started here
and many are pointing fingers and saying how different
it would have been if others had only done a good job.
Be that as it may, it is already done and it's for us
to pick up the pieces and go on. Some may never get
over it, but we should all get on with it.
Instead of cursing the darkness,
it is much better to
light a candle. Instead of berating those who were in
charge as the crisis loomed, let us look towards
helping the unfortunate ones who have lost children,
partners, brothers, sisters, parents, pets, relatives
and friends and, perhaps, almost everything they hold
dear.
In the face of the enormity
of the situation, we
perhaps wonder, and rightly so, what one person could
do to alleviate the suffering. And we feel helpless.
But there is much that one person could do. Prayers are
very powerful. It doesn't matter to what religion one
belongs, a prayer for those who've suffered or are
suffering, will do much.
Then there are those who send
a donation of money. Just
be careful. Disasters bring out both the best and the
worst in human beings. While some give their lives to
assist others, there are others who take advantage of
the situation to create scams to rip off those who are
already suffering.
Even on the Internet, there
are those who say, "Buy my
stuff and I'll send the proceeds to the victims of the
disaster." Some of these are legitimate, whereas others
use the occasion to prey upon the weak and helpless.
Graft, corruption, theft and looting have been with us
from the beginning of time. There will always be a few
who will stoop to that level.
I have always believed that
the good we do, we do for
ourselves and the evil that we do is ours alone. In the
larger picture, we cannot really cheat others because,
at the end of the game, we discover that we have only
cheated ourselves.
Give as you're moved to do.
Help others as much as you
can. When you give to an organization or charity, make
sure that you choose established or certified ones. You
can always check them out. I, my children and some
friends have contributed to a number of hard-working
charities.
One that I especially recommend
is a private group that
jl scott, PhD, (founder and director of iCop) put
together to help the victims in New Orleans and
adjoining areas. No one knew that she was doing this. I
only found out when I received an email from my dear
friend, Rick Beneteau. Since I knew both Rick and jl
and have seen what they've done for the "Toys for Tots"
fund raising, I did not have to worry. I immediately
donated again and got my children and friends to also
donate once more. Even my assistant, Anita Bergen,
matched my contribution.
Do not think that to contribute
you have to have as
much money as some of the richest people on the planet.
Many of them are doing their part, but you and I can
also do ours. It doesn't matter that you cannot
contribute $100, perhaps you could give $10 or $5 or
even $1.
If you do feel like contributing
to the wonderful work
Rick Beneteau and jl scott are doing, you could do so
through PayPal. Here is the link:

QUOTES TO REMEMBER
-------------------------------------------------------
"We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself the
means of inspiration and survival."
--Sir Winston Churchill
"If you help others, you
will be helped, perhaps
tomorrow, perhaps in one hundred years, but you will be
helped. Nature must pay off the debt.... It is a
mathematical law and all life is mathematics."
--Pablo Casals

ARTICLE: "A MATTER OF KNOWING THAT ALREADY"
-------------------------------------------------------
A John Harricharan Article
When my son, Jonathan, was
much younger, I would try to
help him with some of his tasks, whether it was his
homework, chores or even just plain, simple advice.
Many a time he would look at me in exasperation and
say, "I know that, dad." Even when he did solicit my
help directly, he would listen, but not "hear" what
I
had to say.
Now, mind you, I do not claim
to be a paragon of
excellent advice or wisdom, but many of the things I
told him would have saved him tremendous amounts of
time, frustration and heartaches. As Jonathan grew
older, he learned to listen a bit more, so instead of
discounting most of what he heard, he would evaluate,
weigh the merits or lack of, and then make choices
based on what was consistent with his idea of right and
wrong or good and bad.
The Universe speaks to us all
the time. It doesn't
always do it in ways that we expect. Sometimes a
message comes from a friend and at other times, it may
be someone we do not really care for who brings a very
clear message to us. There are times when the messages
are sent through dreams, or books, or radio, TV, the
Internet and even the more prosaic form of the
telephone.
If we close our minds and think
that "we know that
already," we may miss the one little point that could
have saved us a lot of trouble. Keeping an open mind
gives us an opportunity to evaluate the communications
we receive and then make decisions based on our own
true feelings.
The story is told about some
scientists who went into
an apple orchard to study apples. They were busy with
their notepads and pencils, measuring the dimensions of
the apples they found. They observed and noted the
size, weight and colors of the fruit while off to their
left sat one of their fellow scientists under a large
apple tree. He was quietly eating an apple.
All the other scientists knew
about apples. The one who
was eating the apple knew "apples." Knowing about
something does not necessarily mean knowing the thing.
Knowing about God does not mean knowing God. Knowing
about the secrets and laws of the Universe will not do
us much good if there is not the deep knowing in our
hearts and souls.
There have been hundreds of
thousands of people who've
read one or more of my books. Among the many wonderful
email I receive would be one or two short, to the point
comments saying something to the effect of, "I know all
that already. I've been practicing all that stuff for
years and so you haven't told me anything new."
My feeling is that there is
really nothing new. As the
Book of Ecclesiastes says, "There is nothing new under the
sun." What I think is new is the interpretation we
bring to things, the different way we look at the
information we receive. We can choose to see if,
perhaps, there are any gems in what we hear and see or
any wisdom in what we read or listen to.
By opening up our minds to
new possibilities, we may
find that we are being led by that glorious, higher
self within us to explore possibilities that have the
potential to bring us peace, joy, wealth, success --
all good things.
If someone tells you that you
shouldn't do something
because it doesn't work, what that person is really
saying is that it doesn't work for him. Listen to your
heart, gather all the information and let the Universe
show you how to make it work.
Jonathan listens a lot more
these days. He reflects and
thinks about what he hears, sees or reads. He is
willing to listen to points of view that are totally
different from his own without getting defensive as he
used to. As a result, he has become more tolerant, more
compassionate and, in many ways, more successful. He
has grown into a fantastic young man who, I am sure,
will bring much credit to all that he chooses to do.
Let us not be like the person
in the little ditty who
says:
"In matters controversial,
my perception's really fine.
I always see both points of view -- the one that's
wrong and mine."
Let us, instead, listen to
all that comes to our notice
and after reflecting on it, exhibit the qualities of
tolerance, peace, understanding and compassion. And as
Commander Spock would say, "Live long and prosper."

MORE QUOTES TO REMEMBER
-------------------------------------------------------
"Seeds of faith are always
within us; sometimes it
takes a crisis to nourish and encourage their growth."
--Susan L. Taylor
"The greatest task of
our time is to help our fellow
human beings out of the pit. God will return to us when
we are willing to let Him in-into our banks and
factories, into our Congress and clubs, into our homes
and theaters. For God is everywhere or nowhere, the
father of all people or of none, concerned about
everything or nothing. Only in His presence shall we
learn that the glory of humankind is not in its will to
power but in its power of compassion. We will reflect
either the image of God's presence or that of a beast.
There can be no neutrality."
--Abraham Joshua Heschel

POEM: "The Power of the Dog"
-------------------------------------------------------
by Rudyard Kipling
(John's comments: The devastation
that occurred in the
Gulf Coast region saddened me tremendously. In addition
to human suffering, I could not help but think of all
the animals and pets -- dogs, cats and others who must
have suffered terribly also. In honor of those brave
life-forms, I reprint, here, Ruyard Kipling's poem, "The
Power of the Dog" and dedicate it to all the animals
that have suffered in hurricane Katrina)
There is sorrow enough in the
natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
But when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your hearts to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will
buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie -
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk you heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years that
nature permits,
Are closing in asthma, or tumor, or fits,
And the Vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find - it's your own affair
But - you've given your heart to a dog to tear.
We've sorrow enough in the
natural way
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent
At compound interest of cent per cent,
For when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short time loan is as bad as a long -
So why in Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
When the body that lived at
your single will,
When the whimper of welcome is stilled (how still!);
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone - wherever it goes - for good,
You soon discover how much you care,
And give your heart to a NEW dog to tear.

MORE QUOTES TO REMEMBER
-------------------------------------------------------
"Sometimes all a person
needs is a hand to hold and a
heart to understand. "
--Andy Rooney
"All we are asked to bear
we can bear. That is the law
of the spiritual life. The only hindrance to the
working of this law, as of all benign laws, is fear."
--Elizabeth Goudge

VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
-------------------------------------------------------
This time, breaking with tradition
of only putting one
very important announcement here, I am giving you
three.
1) My next teleseminar in the
series, "The 12 Power
Principles" is scheduled for this Wednesday, September
21st. Many of those who listened to the last one, "The
Power of Beliefs" have sent me wonderful emails. I am
moved by your comments and am deeply grateful. The
forthcoming one in the series is called, "The Power of
Self-Esteem and Self-Worth."
Even if you're not able to
listen to it live,
recordings will be put up on the Internet for you to
download and listen to whenever you want. I am happy
that some of my readers in Australia, South Africa, The
UK and parts of Europe stayed up to listen to the last
one. For more information and how to sign up, go to:
http://www.12powerprinciples.com
If you have any questions,
please email Anita at:
anita@insight2000.com or
Ann at:
devere@norconcepts.com
2) As some of you know, the
very special ebook called
"The PowerPause" was reduced from $97 to $39 for a
limited time and about twenty bonuses (including Foster
Hibbard's, "The Millionaire's Seminar" and my "Special
Intuition Report") were added. Many of you took
advantage of the offer and secured your copies. Others,
who could not get it before the sale expired, asked if
it would go on sale again.
Here is what I've done. If
you did not have the
opportunity to get your own copy of "The PowerPause --
3 Minutes, 3 Steps to Personal Success and Real
Happiness," it is again on sale for $39 for the last
time this year. It will be available with all the
bonuses at a tremendous discount. For all the
information, go to:
http://www.PowerPause.com
As we get into the last few
days of this month, I will
take the current sales page down and the price will
return to $97 where it has been for the last five years
with very few exceptions. I will not offer it again for
$39 until well into next year and maybe not even then.
So, I urge you to get your copy now.
3) Watch your email for a special
mailing I'll be
sending out this week. It is about my friend, Charles
Burke, and what he has done. You'll be delighted at
what I have to tell you.

ANOTHER QUOTE TO PONDER
-------------------------------------------------------
"So when the crisis is upon you, remember that God,
like a trainer of wrestlers, has matched you with a
tough and stalwart antagonist ... that you may prove a
victor at the Great Games."
--Epictetus

Remember: "One of the
qualities that separates us
two-legged animals from the four-legged ones is
compassion. It is what makes us stand up tall instead
of crawling about on all fours. And standing up tall is
what frees our arms to reach out to a fellow being and
say, 'Let me help you.'"
